Too Manly For My Hair

Here's a real man, ready and able to please his woman multiple times in a single day but self-restricted to the weekends. So why is his hair getting thinner and his sleep pattern disrupted? Does his powerful urge for lovemaking have anything to do with it? Read on to find out and learn what can be done.

Case #: 755

Concern:

Which of your solutions are best for reversing prematurely graying hair and thinning hair? At age 37, my libido is at an all time high. I usually make love to my woman ONLY on the weekends. We make love an average of 3-4 times a day about 45-60 minutes. I ejaculate an average of 4 times per month. I know how to regulate my frequency. My issue is that I cannot sleep at night before midnight unless I have intercourse. My Yang energy is boiling hot after 10 pm and it is getting worse. Lovemaking is the only activity that seems to calm my sensual energy and allow me to get a restful sleep. On the weekdays, I have insomnia and I am too sexually aroused. I usually sleep at 3-4 am and have to wake up at 7-8 am. So I am in constant sleep deprivation.

Is my insomnia and sexual tension affecting my hair follicles? What foods, teas, tonics, and/or supplements do you suggest to knock me out at 10 pm so I can get rejuvenating sleep and not be so sexually aroused at nights when my woman is not available?

Discussion:

It's hard to find anyone who doesn't know that testosterone is THE male hormone. When daytime television sitcoms can make jokes about overly-aggressive men (and sometimes women) needing to dial down the testosterone pump and get hearty laughs from the audience, it's definitely part of everyday common knowledge.

Too Much Is Too Much
What not everyone knows is that testosterone comes in different “strengths”. DHT (short for dihydrotestosterone) is considerably more potent than “regular” testosterone. During fetal development, DHT is the stuff that makes sure your male genitalia form correctly; after puberty, it works on the prostate... and hair follicles. Not enough of it will, paradoxically, result in next to no hair below your chin (chest, legs, armpits, genitals) but lots of hair on your head. Too much will make the prostate grow too fast as well as make your head-hair thin out.

Where Is It Coming From?

Sexual activity, alone or with a partner, involves releasing a flood of chemicals into your bloodstream. Many of them are already present in your blood, but you get a super-sized serving during or after orgasm/ejaculation. The problems start when these chemicals remain at elevated levels over extended periods. Cortisol, for example, is a stress hormone, and will help you metabolize fat, protein and carbohydrates. This sounds great, but it also suppresses your immune system and decreases bone formation. Likewise, DHT works best when a particular, moderate level is present in your bloodstream: you still have a libido but it isn't raging out of control, and you've still got your hair.

Why Can't I Sleep On It?

Aside from cortisol, excess sexual activity releases noepinephrine, which stimulates brain activity. Yes, you can have too much of this stuff for days after having an orgasm, especially the multiple orgasms in a single day as you describe. It also makes your body produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2); yes, the same stuff used to bleach hair, which is what's really turning your hair grey.

Excess noepinephrine, in turn, will make your body produce prostaglandin E2, which will elevate the core temperature of your brain (part of Western medicine's explanation for “hot Yang”) as well as stimulate your prostate, giving you that “gotta get some NOW” feeling. In other words, the more you worry about it, the more stress hormones you generate, giving you that much more to worry about.

What Can I Do?

One thing you can do is to make sure the light levels in your home are kept low after about 9 o'clock at night, to help reduce the signals to produce more prostaglandin E2. Another is to moderate your sexual activity. Instead of the “feast or famine” pattern you describe (3-4 times per day for two days in a row, followed by total abstinence for five days), you might experiment with making love once every three or four days. Think of it as changing from gorging yourself on one meal (and expecting that one bellyful to last you for the next two days or longer) to eating two or three smaller meals each day when you get hungry.

While you and your partner are adjusting to spreading the love out more evenly over a span of time, you might consider an herbal supplement designed to help your body recover. (SEE THIS: Hair Loss Reversal Remedy) This formula will help bring the excess levels of these chemicals down to normal and let your liver activity go back down to normal.

Be advised that, as always, it will take much longer to repair the damage than it took to inflict it. Be patient, let those stress hormones drain away and you'll find the process will go more smoothly and effectively.
